The Arctic Cathedral stands proud at the end of Tromsø bridge, clearly visible from the centre of the town, set against the background of the 1238 metre Tromsdalstind peak. Because of its striking shape and daring architecture, thechurch became known as Ishavskatedralen (The Arctic Cathedral) as soon as it was opened in 1965.

The lack of urban light pollution in Finnmark allows you to enjoy the Aurora borealis dancing above. The Sami people say that the northern lights has it’s own sound. You will not find anything as powerful as the northern lights glowing above Stetind, Norway's national mountain. The iconic axe shaped top 1392 meters above sea level has for decades been a treasured landmark for the sailors along the rough arctic coast. The peak seems almost unapproachable where it stands, and It was not until 1910 that three climbers reached the top.
